I am about to get out of the army and I need some career advise.

I have been an information systems specialist in the army for five years. I have one more year left and then I will be headed back into civilian life. Since I have been in the army I have gotten my Associate's Degree in General Studies and I currently have a Netwrok+, Security+, and MCTS: Windows 7 certification. I will not be able to finish my bachelor's degree before I get out. So I am trying to figure out what certifications I should try and get to make myself more employable. My strong suits are networking and security. I was thinking about trying to get my CCNA cert and maybe my CEH cert. Or maybe I should just try and get as high as I can with the Cisco certs. I don't know. What do you think?

There's another exiting the military thread floating around recently. Look in there.

It all depends on what you like, your area of expertise. If it is security and networking, Cisco is one pathway to go. Just remember it's the most popular, but not the only game in town, ie F5, Checkpoint, Fortinet, HP and Juniper.

CEH is kind of eh. It's okay and an introduction into network attacks, but it seems to focus a little much on readily available tools.

If you can get a CCNA, CCNP (or CCNA/CCNA Security), that's a good start. Use your G.I. Bill to finish school and pursue whatever other certs you want.
