What was the given reason?
What was the real reason?
:P
Did he leave any projects left dangling in limbo? -

joehalford01 Member Posts: 364 ■■■□□□□□□□When my boss resigned, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. We leaned on an outside vendor while I slowly learned the management side of things and more of the technical side of things. If he was still here I either wouldn't be or would still be low on the pole.
Cross your fingers he left some projects dangling and you can come to the rescue. -

However, I'm with the guys that are saying this could be a good chance for you to step up to the plate and make yourself available.
If his position is something you want, I'd go make it known. Open that door. You just never know. What's the worse that can happen? They say no thanks.Bachelor of Science, Information Technology (Software) - WGU -

I let them know that Im back in school pursuing my degree in network design and management basically what I do now. but without the major certs. I think a few more certs would definately impress them enough to warrant the promotion and raise. The MCITP EA is right up my alley and would really help with this position Im glad i decided on it..WGU Progress: Progress | Completed | Start Date: 9/1/2012 B.S. Network Management & Design

I totally understand what you are saying.
I still say if you want the job, go and tell them specifically, you want the job. I would think they are either looking at replacing him or feel there's no need for the position and won't replace him. If they are going to replace him if I were you, I wouldn't wait on letting them know I wanted the job. Just my 2cents.Bachelor of Science, Information Technology (Software) - WGU -

paul78 Member Posts: 3,016 ■■■■■■■■■■Don't let the lack of degree or certs be an impediment. If you think you can do the job then you already have an advantage to getting the job since you already work there and hopefully have a track record.
Good luck. This sounds like a great opportunity. -
techdudehere Member Posts: 164Piece of paper won't get a job done any better or faster, I forgot where I put my degree come to think of it. I think someone asked for a sealed transcript once (overseas) but that's the only time anyone has ever asked to see proof! If you can do the job then say you can do the job. Jobs need to be filled by qualified people and it's much easier to know what one can expect from an existing team member.

lantech Member Posts: 329Go tell them you want the job. They already know you there so you have an advantage and don't be afraid to tell them that. In a tactful and polite way of course. No one ever gets anywhere by just sitting there hoping something will come there way. If the company I work for had an opening for something I wanted, you can bet I would go all the way up to the VP of Operations to let it be known that I want the job.2012 Certification Goals
