I would do the same transition from CCNA:Sec to CCNP:Sec, without any CCNP exam, because:
- I dislike switching part;
- I like more the firewall, routing and vpn part ( and PIX/ASA hardware);
- every passed exam for CCNP:Sec gives you a Specialist degree/cert. (IOS specialist for SECURE exam, +FIREWALL exam=Firewall specialist, +VPN = VPN and ASA specialist, ...).
