possible loopback modes for 1GigE and 10GigE interfaces
m4rtin
Is there a way to put a
1GigE
or
10GigE
interface in the router into such loopback mode where all the traffic received by
Rx
is sent out from
Tx
. Is this possible? As much as I know
1GigE
and
10GigE
support only local loopback mode which loops the traffic from the router itself. What I mean is that for example I'll connect Ethernet tester to port ge-1/1/0, send out traffic from the tester and it's looped back to tester by ge-1/1/0 port.

Yeah, what you're looking for is remote loopback testing, which can be done via other types of interfaces such as SONET, or ATM. I'm not aware of a way to do remote loopback testing with 1g or 10g interfaces, but you might want to look into OAM, I believe that you should be able to do something very similar, if not better with OAM.
