I had the same format of resume since I was 18 years old (Thanks, mom!) until recently. I used WGU's Optimal Resume to change it into the template it is now -
RomBUS Member Posts: 699 ■■■■□□□□□□Wow thats a sick story (haha pun) and sounds like you went through a lot, it surprised me you still wowed them even under the weather. Sounds like you're a master during the interview process and could use a few pointers (if need be...right now employed). Congrats on the job!

If you want to add me to your d3 friends list, my name is the same as it is here.
I left Diablo3 shortly before the RMAH came into effect. Do they still have rediculously hard affixes?
ie: Lazer/wall/vortex/firechains
Or invincible minions in small corridoors?
Urgh. As a monk, and a Wizard, I wanted to punch kittens every time I get Vortexed into a swam of lazers. In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.

dover Member Posts: 184 ■■■■□□□□□□Jealous much? Yes...yes I am. Sounds like a great group to work with. I loved the layer 8 protocol questions and the UDP 3 way handshake! I'll have to add them to my IPv3 knowledge.
I think being sick - and medicated - may have helped out...I have to agree with some of the others that people are way too 'business' in interviews - especially with tech types.
I decided after my last (nightmare) third-round interview I was going to be more me and less whatever the hell I thought they were looking for. After all, its as much about finding a place you want to work as much as it is about finding a job.
Congratulations to you! -
hiddenknight821 Member Posts: 1,209 ■■■■■■□□□□Congrats, Iris! Thanks for posting the whole story. I have been meaning to post this three hours ago but my Internet connection has been throttling today for some reasons and I wasn't able to surf here. Maybe my mom or my brother's computer is the culprit.

I suspect that you give out this laidback, chill vibe (which isn't just because you're from SoCal...I suspect that's really who you are. A lot of us on the right-side of the coast are chill and laidback and have never even been to Cali...) I think that's a good chunk of what got these guys to call you back quickly with an offer. Keep being who you are and don't ever change; that works great for you!!
Congratulations once again...you most certainly deserve it. -

Keener Member Posts: 146 ■■■■□□□□□□Congrats!!! From my experience, except for the Linked In part, you did a good job from an Interviewee perspective. Being yourself, smiling, laughing and similar items are good for an interview. It lightens the mood and will help keep you in the front of the interviewer's mind. It also allowed you to control a lot of the flow of conversation in the interview. Again, great for the interviewee, bad for the interviewer!
I have had interviews where I had good flowing conversations about personal things like competitive softball, weightlifting and the Marines, and I have had "cold" interviews where the guy interviewing me wouldn't even break a smile (with Reuters, and that is the way they were trained to interview).
Personality and "coachability" can go a long way too!
Again, congrats!Pain is only temporary. No matter how bad it gets, it always ends! -

From the D3 title, I thought that you'd gotten a job in Vivendi (like me back in the days of D2).
Also, FYI, the 8th layer is the user. The MOST important layer to control/restrict . -

Oh god, I hope not. I'm an old school gamer: Atari, Pong, Space Quest, Quest for Glory/Hero's Quest, Loom, King's Quest, Police Quest, Sega/Sega CD, original NES, Nintendo 64. Turbograpxs, Atari Jaguar, etc. I either had the console or played the games on PC. I was even gaming in a world of 286's and BBSes. For that very reason, I have done EVERYTHING I can do to avoid getting too much into gaming in the last 4 years. I would NEVER get my studying done if I stayed on top of current games. On a positive note, I should have a long list of games to catch up on by the time I get to retirement. -

Believe it or not, I bought Grand Theft Auto 4 and Metal Gear Solid: Son of Liberty along with the strategy guides for my PS3, and I haven't touched it since I bought it four years ago. I hope they don't decommission the game servers when I finally get a chance to play with it. -

Not going to lie - I spent *alot* of money on the Steam Summer Game Sale this year. And I can't touch any of it. That's my promise myself, no gaming until after CCIE is done. So once I pass the lab, I'll have alot of catching up to do... at least until the voice in the back of my head that says 'YOU SHOULD BE STUDYING' drives me to begin the path down the Juniper side of the force. -
Iristheangel Mod Posts: 4,133 Mod@Forsaken - I have a CCNA already. I just haven't picked up the books for about 8 months and I want to give myself a refresher before I start the job. I agree with what you said about diversifying too much. I do have the books for the CCNP. When I was originally studying for the CCNA exam, I got so excited for the material that I bought the CCNP R&S book series but I got busy with my degree and CISSP so I didn't pick them up yet. Routing TCP/IP Vol 1? Alright. Thanks. Ordered. I'll probably be referring to Network Warrior as well. I love that book. Thanks for the good advice. I definitely look up to you as far as where you are in your career and all the knowledge you have.

You sir are a scholar and quite frankly an inspiration. I have swore off Diablo 3 until after I finish my A+ studies. I cannot imagine swearing off all gaming until completing the CCIE. I was just reminiscing today, about the early days of EverQuest with a friend, and he stated that someone asked for a bind, and he thought they meant a bandage, so called them over to one of the Kelethin lifts and hilarity ensued. It will be hard to not play Guild Wars 2. However, it must be done and it is good to know I am not alone. Thank you.WGU - Security

Same here i think i spent over $100 on games, that summer sale was awesome. I just dont have the time to play any nor the disk space on this macbook pro retina hahaha I just got excited i had this laptop and started buying all those games to see how they look on the MBPR.
I had to dual boot to win8 to install 75% of these games. Its worth it, i love my laptop Like everyone else i got to much studying, work, and my social life to play these games. I try to play twice a week for sure though I need to use that for therapy to get my mind off work and the real world hahaCerts: CISSP, EnCE, OSCP, CRTP, eCTHPv2, eCPPT, eCIR, LFCS, CEH, SPLK-1002, SC-200, SC-300, AZ-900, AZ-500, VHL:Advanced+

Iristheangel Mod Posts: 4,133 Mod@Yuck, I like Infosec but I doubt I'll do it as a FT job. I love it but I love networking more. That being said, I would love to make money on the side by consulting/contracting for security audits, pen testing, compliance, etc. In an ideal world, I would own my own consulting company on the side of my main networking job.

Iristheangel Mod Posts: 4,133 ModProbably when I was studying for my CCNA. I really enjoyed reading the books and labbing. I even went back and reread the books for fun last December but I got caught up with school and my CISSP. I still love security. I just love networking more. In an ideal world, I could do both!

Good old EQ. I remember having to stare at the spell book to regen mana. Always found it amusing when WoW players complained about how much of a grind WoW is.2018 Certification Goals: Maybe VMware Sales Cert

Never played EQ, I was too loyal to UO to follow the mass exodus to EQ but I hear it is/was a great game.Fall 2014: Start MA in Mathematics [X]

Well, I know myself. I have an addictive personality, especially when it comes to gaming. I'd have passed the lab years ago if I hadn't engaged in this little indulgence called World of Warcraft. Learning and actually exercising discipline is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but it's been worth it, as I've more than doubled my salary in the last 3 years. Time enough for playing later. -

Honestly, my end game is to go full time consulting as well, and that's probably what I'll be doing in about five years if everything goes as planned. I do contract work on the side, and it usually brings in between an extra $10k to $30k a year, depending on what I can handle. Not necessarily directed at you, but at anyone who's thinking about going the consulting route - when the work is done, ask the client if they're satisfied with the work. If they are, then ask for a testimonial on company letterhead. Worse they'll do is say no, and having endorsements from previous work is incredibly beneficial when you're pitching for other work, or something falls into your lap, but you need to sell the client on your qualifications. -

Oh dear god. Playing a ranger in the early days was a special kind of hell, since you didn't get meditate until much later than the pure caster classes. I spent a very large amount of time staring at my spell book. And then there was good old level 33 when Rangers got their first summoning spell... you could always tell who had just hit level 33 by watching the amount of fizzle spam.
And though it was a pain in the ass, I have to say some of the best times I ever had was camping Rubicite in Cazic-Thule, made some friends that endure to this day, and it was always nice to have sympathizers during hell levels.
