Alright I was brushing up on some of the basics but I have a quick question on VLSM. If you jump down to step 5: determine network numbers for serial links at the end it talks about recombining sub-subnets. 00010000 = .16/30 through 00111100 = .60/30 it says they are recombined into 00010000 = .16/28. How did they determine this? Why is it .16 and why is it /28 instead of /30? Thanks for the help.
Oh by the way some of you may find some of these books on this website useful.. it has a few cisco books, some linux books, etc. you just have to view them online but they are organized quite well. You can find them here: http://fengnet.com/book/. If this is a violation of the rules I will happily edit my post and remove the links. I just needed to paste that first example so people would know exactly what I was asking.

Life is not a gift for man, man is himself life, his wants and needs serve the singular purpose of existence, any man who loses sight of this and does not cherish life itself is in the hardest of ways.
