Future Value of MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician on Windows 7

I start my final semester at a local community college next week and will be taking two classes that are aligned with Microsoft exams. I have both books already and both are tagged with exam numbers. (70-680 and 70-685) One of the books is actually a Microsoft Official Academic Course textbook and the other is by a 3rd party.
I looked up these exam numbers on Microsoft's site and found that passing these two exams results in:
MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician on Windows 7
I also noticed that the exams are retired on July 31, 2013.
I never would have looked into these MS certs but being that I am taking the classes it makes sense to at least consider attempting them at the end.
However, being that I know little about MS certs, I question the value of this certification.
Is this worth getting? Will it continue to have value in the near future?
Thoughts?

Who knows what the future will bring so I would bag these certs now.
If you are doing the courses, a bit more hard work towards the exams would be a bonus and you would have something to show for your time / efforts. -
