On The Road To: Network +

Currently studying for the Network +.

How long would you say that is an ideal time to study for it. Now i know it usually depends on the person itself, but like a ballpark estimate time to study for it and be ready for it.

I want to take it asap as there some good opportunities arising and i want to take them on. (no rush)

Followed by the Security +

I've read throughout the forum - but what would be the best advice - i know for sure the OSI 7 layer model. Any other key tips on memorizing that'll help me pass with flying colors.

Thanks.

I am taking my test Saturday, and have been studying hard for about 2 months. Could have done it faster but I really wanted to understand the material so I can have an easy transition into ccent/ccna.

Can't really recommend a timeframe it took me 4 months study.

    As far as the OSI:
Please do not throw sausage pizza away (worked for me :) )

    Application
    7
    Away

    Presentation
    6
    Pizza

    Session
    5
    Sausage

    Transport
    4
    Throw

    Network
    3
    Not

    DataLink
    2
    Do

    Physical

    Please

I think a month of solid studying will prepare you for it. It really depends on your prior networking experience/knowledge. As for the OSI model it shouldn't be something you force yourself to memorize. When you finally understand it there wont be a doubt in your mind that transport is layer 4 or network is layer 3. It will all just come naturally.

When I first started studying I was in the same boat of memorizing the model, but once I studied for a few weeks I realized that I didnt need to "memorize" it because I "understand" it. Sorry if this is confusing lol just trying to get a good point across.
