70-417 Exam Prep Material

So I've got a question for some of the people who have been taking the 70-417 Beta exam. What resources have you used to study? The only suggestion I've found so far is to use Technet for the 2012 library.

I recently certified as an MCITP:EA for Server 08, but I used the MS Press Books, and lab/on the job work to study the material. While I definitely can do some lab work with Server 12, the technet material is just so dry to try to read through.

Is there any word on when the MS Press Books will be ready? If the exam goes live on September 17th as was mentioned in another thread, what is Microsoft's expectation for your study path, just Technet?

Thanks for any feedback, this is the first time I'll be jumping on a newly designed batch of exams.

Expect some books in the next few months, some are already on pre-order. Otherwise you can take your chances with Technet

Usually takes a few months after the exam is released for the study guides to come out. Be careful with the first couple that are released. Sometimes they are rushed and don't cover the exam material very well.

For the beta exams that were the individual exams that make up the upgrade, I read the introducing windows server 2012 and then I created a windows 2012 server and installed each of the components that the exams skill measured section. I think it helped.

I see on amazon there's an exam ref for 417 but the publish date is dec 3, 2012.

Alot of people have given the Introducing Windows Server 2012 book good feedback, said it's been a great resource to use in conjunction with Technet articles and other howto's on the Internet. The RTM version of the book was just released in PDF form (for free, the dead-tree version will cost you,) per this thread.

It says it's pre-press so you can still read it, I'm not sure how incomplete it is but it seems OK so far?

You the man, I was not aware of this one. I had already taken the exam and passed two out of three categories. This should be all I need for my second shot. Do they periodically update the book so later on we will get the finished copy? Thanks.
