2013 is planned as an (ISC)2year for me, with SSCP scheduled for February and hopefully get CISSP by the end of the year.

If I can pursue an RHCSA somewhere in between then I'll be thrilled.

    Ugh. Simply. . . ugh.

Haven't finished one cert this year, and started a couple. I think my goal for 2013 would be. . . finish one. Take one exam and pass.

Anything beyond that would be gravy.

Some certifications have a lot of tests, just keep moving forward

3 months of 2011 and 2012 have been good to me... I have accomplished my CCNA, MS 680,640,642. I am looking to site my 643 by the end of the month.

In October I am off on a SCCM 2012 course and hopefully my 647 by the end of the year to complete my MCITP:EA.

As for 2013.. I've started thinking about it. I am defo thinking something around virtualisation and storage. VMWare or Hyper-V I haven't decided yet. I work for an MSP so I guess both would be good.

If anyone has any tips on where to start with storage, it would be highly appreciated :)

I think finding a job that doesn't make me feel like I'm wasting/have wasted my time studying (or push through that feeling).

Finishing the CCNP Security and knocking out the CCIE R+S written is a good 2013 goal.
    Latest Completed: CISSP

    Current goal: Dunno

knocked out the CCNP in 2012

Been trying to decide which way I go next...may just start studying for the CCIE written to just stay fresh and learn a few new things, not sure if I would take the test in 2013 or not. I wanted to do the CCIP but they retired it and I have not had the time to look into what it requires now as the CCNP SP:....

So I guess my goals for 2013 is learn as much as I can about Security,MPLS and BGP and if I can get a cert out of it,great...and I think it would be cool to pick up linux+ as well

I have a few things left on my plate, lots of tests that I just need to review for and schedule, already done most of the studying for them. I've also got quite a few things on the 2012 list that didn't make the cut for one reason or another, but that's how they getcha. I'm going to try to knock out a few Microsoft exams before the year is over, then we'll see what I want to do in the next 12 months after that. . .

I'll know by January 1st of 2013, for sure. icon_lol.gif

I've noticed that Cisco professionals tend to enjoy Linux. It must be a command line thing :)

The rest of 2012: Finish CCNP

2013: CCNA Security, I too have thought about Linux+ but I am leaving my options open.

I've noticed that Cisco professionals tend to enjoy Linux. It must be a command line thing :)

Deep down, IOS is just a *nix flavor with some tweaks. Then again, so is OS X, ESXi, Android, etc. etc.

That shell makes for a comfortable place, like Windows folk and the Start button.
Work in progress: picking up Postgres, elastisearch, redis, Cloudera, & AWS.

I have seen this the other way around. Linux admins watching me in a router or switch and they say "huh, that looks a lot like BASH". Yes it does, except IOS is much simpler.

The underwear of most commercial firewalls is a simple redhat clone. If you can get root access you will likely find iptables lurking about. They slap their intelligence (protocol inspection, anti-virus -which is usually a rip-off of clamAV, anti-spam, and monitoring/logging) on top of the *nix and sell it to us for lots of money - on hardware that would cost only a few hundred dollars.

Exactly. High cost Cisco gear sporting commodity Intel Celerons is my favorite example.

Yep, and Cisco phone systems which run on IBM X-Servers with 2 GB of RAM and running Linux.

Probably VCAP-DCA and VCAP-DCD. My CCNA will be up in January 2014, so I guess I'll have to decide whether I want to renew or let it lapse.

    2013... not sure yet.

I was thinking of CCIE Routing and Switching. If only because I think it's fun. But practically speaking I shoudl probably do RHCSA/RHCE>

For 2012 I plan on finishing CCENT and going after Security+.

As for 2013, CCNA is a definite. After that, I need to do some more research and figure out where I want to go from there. Maybe a new job will help guide my decision...
