traceyke Member Posts: 100 ■■□□□□□□□□Completed in 2012: NONE due to: life, new job, on/off studying coupled withno clear direction on what cert to get next
Yet to complete in 2012: CCENT (hopefully)
Goals for 2013: CCENT/CCNA, Security+, Linux+
I am slowly starting to realize that I won't be able to make that next step to "mid-level" with just an entry level cert. -
nosoup4u Member Posts: 3652012: Started with certs after a good while in the IT field, just got my mcts, taking 685 next week.
2013: Hopefully get into WGU so N+,S+,A+,P+ and knock out a huge chunk of wgu courses since I'm only transferring in 7 CU with no prior college experience -
traceyke Member Posts: 100 ■■□□□□□□□□Ugh. Simply. . . ugh.
Haven't finished one cert this year, and started a couple. I think my goal for 2013 would be. . . finish one. Take one exam and pass.
Anything beyond that would be gravy.
^^^^^ Best way to sum up my 2012 as well. -

2013 Goals: CCNA
Hey everyone quick question. I plan on passing the CCNA hopefully around March-April of 2013. I was wondering would it be smarter to go right for the CCNP or go for the CCNA:Sec or something along those lines?
The reason I ask this is because I currently do not have a real networking job (even though I do get some hand on experience occassionally from the networking team). I was thinking that the CCNP wouldnt benefit me much until I have a solid year or two of real-world networking experience.
I do plan on applying to new jobs when I pass my CCNA. -
Concerned Water Member Posts: 338 ■■■■□□□□□□I think you should go for the CCNA Security first, it can fill in the security knowledge gap. It's also easier to obtain and looks good on the resume.:study:Reading: CCNP Route FLG, Routing TCP/IP Vol. 1
SWITCH [x] ROUTE [ ] TSHOOT [ ] VCP6-NV [ ] -
NotHackingYou Member Posts: 1,460 ■■■■■■■■□□I agree that you should hold off on the CCNP until you have some practical experience. When you go the extra mile, there's no traffic.

When all else is done I would like to try either an EC-Council cert like C|EH, C|NSA, C|ESA, or SAN cert like GCIH, GCIA or GCFW -

2013: I want to have my CCNP and a huge maybe, but I'd like to have Linux+ as well. That is a huge maybe though. -
discount81 Member Posts: 213I'd like to hope I can get my JNCIA, Project+ and SCCM 2012 finished by the end of 2012.
JNCIA seems pretty easy so it is a possibility I could finish up my study on that and take the exam end of the week.
Project+ I am not sure about, hopefully I can do it in under a month.
I haven't touched SCCM in around 3 years, none of the companies I worked for lately used it, but I figure 2 weeks study time should be plenty.
May even fit in 70-417 to update my MCITP to a MCSA 2012
2013
CCNA, RHCE and maybe some SQL certs
Depends what happens on the job front also, I am passively looking, I applied to a big Microsoft Partner who offers excellent training opportunities.
If I got that role I'd do every MS Cert I possibly could fit in.http://www.darvilleit.com - a blog I write about IT and technology. -

Yet to be completed Linux +
2013 : C|EH, CCNA (Renew), CCNP or CCNA:S and then CCNP:S
Will prob get completed : C|EH, CCNA and CCNA:S
Why would you renew your CCNA when it automatically renews if you pass the CCNA:S or one test in the CCNP track?
