hard drive blue screen ata mode not detected ahci mode
Hi all, another tough one to crack. I have a PC here, a Dell 6510. The PC has a newly imaged HDD in it. When the computer was booted, it blue screened, we often have that happen, the solution is to change the ATA mode. We changed it from ATA to AHCI mode, but then, when the computer reboots, the drive isnt detected! I switched the ata mode back, and it is detected but blue screens again. Now, this is the first time I have seen this, but I really dont think it is a bad drive, any thoughts?
(I am certain the blue screen is being caused by the ATA mode, not an issue with windows, there is a specific point during the boot process where the computers blue screen when its caused by ATA mode, and it gives a specific error code.)

SephStorm Member Posts: 1,731 ■■■■■■■□□□It turns out this machine is the one in our enterprise that is all jacked up. For all of the computers of this model, the mode should be set to ACHI, and the older models go on ATA. This machine for some reason only works in RAID mode... go figure...
