Got this POST Error yesterday, need some assistance.

in CCNP
I am trying to get a 3560 PoE 24 port switch to run some VoIP sets, and during POST, I got the following error message:
POST:Found inline power controller write failure, inst 4
POST: Inline power test failed

So, am I looking at a hardware failure or a software failure?

If hardware, can a PoE injector be used on the VoIP sets?

    It seems like it would be hardware to me. Either way, yes an injector will work.

    I have cisco 3560 24PS
    and I got This :
    POST: Inline Power Controller Tests : Begin
    POST: Found inline power controller write failure, inst 0
    POST: Inline Power Controller Tests : End, Status Failed
    POST: Inline Power feature is disabled on this switch

    How I can fix This problem ?? Any help

    Power Injector for the VoIP sets. It is a hardware failure.

    I'm looking at a few switches that have this error on eBay. Is the only thing that is "broken" is the switch cannot provide PoE? If so, that isn't a big deal for me and I could get a few 3560's for a good amount.

    Yes, the ports will just not provide power. Unacceptable if the unit is still under smartnet, but still a good piece of lab equipment in my mind if it isn't covered.

    So the switch shouldn't have any issues booting up - only providing PoE to the ports? For some reason I thought if a switch fails during POST (no matter what category) it would just stop booting up. As long as I can still access the CLI and the switch functions as normal (minus PoE) then I'm a happy camper.

    I just wanted to figure out if my thought process was right or not before I shell out some $.

    I have a 3550 with failed inline power running in my lab right now. Works fine, I actually didn't know PoE was broken until I plugged in an AP. After troubleshooting a bit, I showed POST and all 24 ports show failed inline power. Also said inline power failed POST, but its working nonetheless.
