Ok so ive been working on Nat lately just a top up and im pretty clear on how to configure it all untill i come to creating a pool and entering teh netmask.
Now i understand my subnetting and everything, but i still cant get my head around the netmask, is the netmask the subnet of the interface ip address range you have? or is it a range of ip's you are advertising in the pool??
For example lets say my ISP offer me a /28 to be used in a dynamic pool.
but i only want to use 5 of the addresses. When i enter the pool command do i do the netmask as 255.255.255.240 or as 255.255.255.248???
I.e. r1(config)# ip nat pool NATPOOL 100.100.100.1 100.100.100.5 255.255.255.248 or .240????
Cheers in advance.
