Taking both on Halloween, trying to squeeze them in between a project and vacation. Won't have much time to study with a Windows 8 beta the week before. Hopefully my Exchange 2007/2010 and Office 365 experience will give me a solid base for the exam.

I've got to find out if I'm allowed to take the beta exams... I've got internal training for Exchange 2013 next month.

Unfortunately I'm way too busy to run these exams. Which is too bad as I would love to add an Exchange cert at some point.

I hope to try my hands at this cert. I have installed and started learning. Still trying to get use to the web interface as my admin console. Overall I am enjoying the 2013 experience.

I took both exams today and I feel pretty good about them. Definitely passable if you have solid Exchange experience with 2007/2010. My Office 365 deployment experience, both with and without the Hybrid Configuration Wizard, helped. I do wish I had more experience with UC because that may have cost me the 342 exam. Overall my study time was about 8 hours so I focused on what was new and hoped I could cover and remember enough. That's 3 beta exams in 6 days, but I only have 1 exam I need to pass before the end of January so I can take a little break.

Ended up trying to sit both yesterday, but the 342 exam broke the PC! Managed to get through 5 questions on the 1st test scenario then it died.

In the end didn't get to do any, called Prometric today and got the exams free when they go live. Thanks Prometric!

I took both exams over yesterday and today. I thought they were good exams. I do not think I passed 70-341, I was not expecting as much powershell as I got. 70-342 I think was better.

how could you not be expecting much powershell, they have crammed it down our throats more and more each version, especially 2013. Good luck to you all though, not sure i am brave enough to take an exchange test

Especially with 2007 - if Microsoft would have gotten their will I am sure they would have dumped the EMC completely in 2010

They only added more functionality due to a LOT of complaints but in exams you'd have to be prepared to do at least the basic setup / configuration via powershell .. One hint is the fact that the EMC in 2010 for example, always gives out the powershell syntax after each setting you performed.

One way to learn - if you need to create a connector for example - do so in EMC until the point you click FINISH - copy / paste the PS command and do so using this, rather than the EMC - same with other tasks - you need to add a mailbox - add one via EMC - the remaining ones via PS ..

The exams were supposed to go live today, and we usually have the results before the exam goes live, but I still had not heard anything from Microsoft. I just checked the Prometric site and 342 is showing passed. 341 (and my 688 beta) is still showing tested. Has anyone else seen their results?

Update - I passed the 341 as well so I am now an Exchange 2013 MCSE.

The results are in for the other one as well today, I failed them both. I was no where ready for Exchange 2013.

So, I'm not an Exchange 2013 MCSE. The MCSE Messaging requires the Server 2012 MCSA in addition to both the 341 and 342, so I still need to take the 417 upgrade exam. There isn't even an MCSA for Exchange. That's what I get for taking tests before the certification track is published.

I liked that the 2007 and 2010 certs did not require the server track, even though I completed the 2008 server track first. Granted, I am going to upgrade my MCSA to 2012 and pick up the MCSE: SI as well. I wonder if the requirement of 5 exams for the MCSE: Messaging will limit the number of people who pursue it? Back when MS learning used to publish the number of certified people, the 2003 MCSE:Messaging was one of the rarer certifications. The requirements of the full MCSE track plus 2 additional Exchange exams may have had something to do with that.

I passed both 70-341 and 70-342 last week and now have been certified as an MCSE: Messaging. I had earned the Windows 2012 MCSA certification last year. My transcript has been updated with the new certifications, but the MCSE certificate is not yet available for download Does anyone know how long it is going to take for it to be available for download?

By the way, I found the way both the exams have been set much better than the previous Exchange exams. Both the exams do complete justice to the word "Solution" in their names. They are much more solution oriented than the previous exams and test your Exchange knowledge thoroughly. 60% questions were based on scenarios in either exam!
