Last 4 weeks and too bored to even read

I got my last four weeks in my current job (got my 3 month notice reduced to 6 weeks via mutual agreement) and I am bored out of my skull.
Manager doesn't want to put me on new projects and I am excluded from team meetings - which is a good thing. But I don't really know what I am supposed to do now. i don't want to take my remaining holiday - seems a waste - and I prefer the money. I am SO bored that I open a technical book and a paragraph in (trying the 5.1. Deepdive) I even get bored of that.
Wish they would send me on gardening leave .....
Oh, the most annoying thing is how the "negotiation" about my early release went.
Me:" I resign bla bla"
Them:" When do you leave"
Me:" Anything between now and three month - I'd work my notice if required"
Them:"Ok, any time really is fine"
Me:" Cool, let me check with new company"
< time passes and I realized its in the middle of the month approaching next pay day >
Me:" I guess end of November ? "
Them:" Doesn't make much sense - we got nothing to do for you - November 3 ?"
Me:" Cool"
Them:"Let me talk to HR"
< day later >
Them :"Let's make it end of november"
Me <mutters> "ok"
Me <next day after letting new job know and asking Them again> "So why not November 3?"
Them:"Oh, I don't care when you leave"
Me < slams head on table >
We got a delivery of 4 new fully loaded DL 380 G8 and because I was bored - I created two 3-host vSphere cluster, one based on vSphere 4.1 and one based on 5.1 - 5.1 being nested with full redundant AD, SQL and NFS infrastructure ... That was within a single day and done by 5pm grmpf .....
I think I'll take a bash at the vCloud Director 5.1 - haven't touched it since 1.5 and since I cancelled my iAAS exam due to lack of knowledge and being way too keen, I may as well use the time wisely ...
Still bored though

6 weeks is a long time.
You do not want to burn any bridges, I am kind of going through what you are going through.
May I ask how long you were in that company for
I do not like working at my current place, I used to love it but not anymore, I handed my resignation and took a couple of days of leave cause I could not stand it.
I came back and it felt good. -
jibbajabba Member Posts: 4,317 ■■■■■■■■□□Oh I can take it - like I say - I am currently using the time to setup a vCloud infrastructure - might actually help me with passing the IAAS exam, even still - hard to motivate myself sometimes - especially with an almost two hour train ride to and from the office each day (won't change in new job tho)
I've been working here only for 10 odd months - didn't like it from day #1 (yepp, talked to management about my issues here) ... Usually I stick around for quite a long time - last two jobs before that I have been in for 10+ years ...My own knowledge base made public: http://open902.com -
