How Do I Begin My IT Career Path Without Any Experience?

Good morning everyone. I'm currently in school to obtain my Associates in CIS next semester. I'm also studying for my A+ certification so I can take the exam in January. I would like to transition, but most of the opportunities I run in to require some sort of experience which I do not have. How would go about breaking in to my career without any experience for the time being? I appreciate any and all responses. Thanks again.

I think it would be a good Idea to edit out your name / address / Phone Number / Email from anything that you post here, never know whos looking at it. I suggest taking it down and re posting it with just "Name" where your name is and "address" where address is and so on. Just saying , but for the most part it looks good and organized , might need a couple of entry certs in there to land a decent entry level job then continue from there. I applied to some entry level jobs before any certs and got like 8 bucks an hour offers, after my N+/A+ got an ok $15 an hour and just keep studying from there. Takes a lot of time and patience in the beginning but it pays off down the line. icon_thumright.gif

Does your school offer job placement assistance? If not, one of the best ways to gain relevant experience is to look for an internship. If you're good, some companies will hire you once the internship ends.

Yes I need 15 more hours after this semester to obtain my Assosciates. I'm contemplating just taking 5 courses next semester just to get it done and over with. I plan to take my A+ exam in January.

Also, I'm 32 so I doubt the military would be beneficial for me at this point with wife and children.

Great idea about my school having job placement. I'm going to look in to that.

I was on Dice website last night looking at IT jobs and actually saw a gig of interest, but of course they at least wanted A+ certification so that inspired me even more.
