What company to say I work for on LinkedIn?
martaw
I will be leaving my company to take a contract to perm job. I like to keep my LinkedIn up-to-date. Technically, I am an "employee" of the recruiting company but doing work for of course the company I plan on becoming perm with after the contract is up. Is it ok for me to place the "end" company as the company I work for?

I have always marked myself as an employee of the recruiter's customer, not the recruiter. It's a resume, not a tax return. It's not really dishonest, and who cut your paycheck is irrelevant. The company that interviewed and hired that you did work for is the employer for resume purposes, from my standpoint (LinkedIn = Resume/Facebook).
When it comes time to give references, you might give the contact number for the recruiter, and you can explain both on the resume and in interview that it was a contract or contract-to-hire. I've yet to have a problem with it, and I've happily listed the Fortune 500 I worked for instead of the you've-never-heard-of-it recruiting company for over four years now.

Make sure you re-read any non disclosure agreement that you may have made before putting the actual company on.

Personally I would just wait till I leave then I update it
Even if you signed up, just wait till your first official day

Many folks put Contractor at Client, and since it is contract to perm, that would likely make since. If you were in a situation where you weren't in a contract to perm, then I would think otherwise.

I would just put where you worked (the customer).

Be very careful about putting the end client. The company I work for has it in the offer that you sign that you cannot disclose the end client on Linked In or other websites, even if you were to put something to the effect of " Systems Admin for Addecco at XYZ company" I'm told this is because the market in the area I am going to is very competitive with recruiters. Make sure you read any offers or non-compete paperwork you might have signed.

Unless specifically prohibited by your contracting company, I'd say putting the end-client as your employer with a "contracted through XYZ Staffing" disclaimer somewhere in the job description or after the title should be fine. That's what I usually do.
