Never had an IT interview

Ok. Long story short, I was in sales. I got back in the guard and was picked up by a signal section. I have spent over a year and a half on active duty order getting tons of IT training. Went through several communications exercises. I even picked up Security+. I am currently deployed and planning to take my CCNA in December. Then hopefully CEH by March. Once my deployment ends I want to get into the civilian IT field.

I have been through many interviews for general labor, retail, sales, and management. I have yet to have an IT interview. Anything different I should expect? Also, how does it look if I request a small tour to see the networking room or server room? I think it would be good because it shows me what to expect if I get the job.

Well it isn't MUCH different from the other fields you interviewed for..

Expect to be asked at least a couple technical questions related to the position you are applying for.. They also want to get to know your personality type as well, to see if you will be a good fit for the company.

Look up "interview questions for (job title here)" for some insight as to what to possibly expect, and good luck on your search!

My Advice is treat the interview as your chance to ask them questions. I always come with 15-20 questions. Ask questions about their Hardware, software, policies ect that you would be working on and they may show you. Depending on security they might not be able to show non-employees. My 2nd interview for my current job they offered and gave me a tour of the server room. At my previous job that would never have happen.
