Summarizing Routes

When summarizing routes, do you just advertise this one route out of the router? Do you have to stop advertising the individual routes?

Your correct, the router will stop advertising individual routes and will advertise only the summary, for EIGRP you don't have to stop advertising the individual routes, the router will stop them once you configure the summary address.

If I have lots of networks on the 10.x private range and they are using vlsm, would a single advertised route to 10.0.0.0 /8 allow these networks to be reached?
