Take 70-642 before 70-640

I'm getting ready to go after the MCSA Server 2008 cert.
The vibe I'm getting from the forum is that the 70-642 exam is more beginner friendly to those unfamiliar with the server admin world. I'm just wondering if you are allowed to take the 642 before the 640, and if so, do you recommend it?
Thanks

nosoup4u Member Posts: 365You can take them in any order from my understanding, at least that was the case for the my 70-68x exams

Some say the 70-642 is easier than the 70-640 because there is so much content in the 70-640 that it can be a bit overwhelming at first. Also the 70-640 has some dns related material that is on the 70-642 so it can help in that regard as well.

While, they both seem to cover DNS, otherwise they cover different material. 72-642 covers DNS, DHCP, File Services, WSUS (though I didn't get any WSUS questions, others have reported being asked about it), Builtin Groups, Monitoring Servers, RRAS/VPN, NAP, and IPv6 Addressing (I wasn't asked any IPv4 questions, though you might be). I would take whichever one I feel more comfortable with, which for me right now is Active Directory. For you, it might be the other way around.R&S: CCENT → CCNA → CCNP → CCIE [ ]
