Didn't Microsoft remove deduplication from exchange 2010 due to performance hit? Wonder what the performance hit will be in server 2012.2018 Certification Goals: Maybe VMware Sales Cert

Sounds cool, but... isn't it more suitable for backups than for a production server?It can process about 20 MB of data per second

They have their recommendations for appropriate server workloads where De-Dupe would be useful:
Plan to Deploy Data Deduplication
Highly transactional applications - like Exchange - not recommended.
