Has anyone been in a role where you description continues to change?

Rant number 2 for the day
I recently moved back to the midwest about 5 months ago. I initially took a position as a lead analyst, basically a reporting/metrics analyst. Building basic dashboards, charting, gathering stakeholders requirements around reporting, designing some automated reporting Excel - PowerPoint and utilizing some very basic VBA. Then they transition me into a service desk supervisor for about 3 weeks mentoring coaching developing one on one sessions. Now I transitioned into a service delivery lead. I am still doing service desk supervision, but also managing 2 other service units. Deployment and implementation and deskside support. I feels like I can never get any traction going. Just when I get comfortable into a role it shifts into something else. It's ever evolving which has it's pros and cons.
Has anyone ran into something similiar to this?

I have had a job where I have had to wear a lot of hats. At my last job I was at one point a part of two different teams at the same time! Talk about split priorities. It was crazy for a while... I was hoping to just get to be a part of the one team I preferred. That didn't work out, but I got awesome experience during that time. Now, at my current job I am using the experience I gained from being on BOTH of those teams. All of that was a stepping stone to something MUCH better in my case. Gobble it up even if it is hectic because you never know where it will lead.
Have you asked your manager for any clarification about what they *ultimately* are looking for from you? As in, where is this all headed? Is this temporary, etc?
