Need career advice: switching from Accounting to IT
renmei
I have a bachelors in Accounting and Information Management and spent 2 miserable years working before deciding I needed a change before I went nuts because I hated what I was doing and regretted going down that path. So I joined the US Army and was trained as a Finance soldier but mostly worked with the S-6 guys as the IMO and TASO. Acronyms aside and long story short I was my unit's computer guy who did handled everything computer and tech related. I enjoyed the hell out of my work and am kicking myself for not going down the IT road in the first place since I've always been a computer "power user".
So I'm now almost out of the Army and wondering what to do. I'm not going back to Accounting, and I suppose I can put 3 years of very basic entry-level computer work experience from the Army on my resume. I also have the GI Bill meaning 3 years of university. I don't know if I should start all over and get an undergrad IT degree or try and get a masters in MIS so my Accounting diploma wasn't completely useless. Or should I go for certificates and get an entry level help desk job somewhere? I know I could get the A+ one pretty easily.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I would check out oracle or SQL database admin or other such titles. Most of our oracle guys came from an accounting background. That would be more lucrative than A+ systems track.
