Loopgaurd
Dear members, I was wondering if someone could be so kind as to explain loop guard, try as I may to research this feature I cant seem to grasp it. For some reason I keep thinking that loop guard will effectively block a backup path should for some reason the primary path fail.

Basically, if you have a redundant (physical) switching path, then STP will have a forwarding port and a blocking port. With loopguard, if the blocked port stops receiving BPDUs then the port will be placed into loop-inconsistent state.
