Hi all,
I passed with a score of 793/900.
I would say the questions were pretty straight forward. Most of the questions are in one short sentence.
I used CompTIA Security+ Deluxe Study Guide: Exam SY0-301 Emmett Dulaney and Cram Exam practice 3rd edition (quite of number of questions are similar from here). Found a few online free practice exams that actually helped a lot too.
I plan to take on CISSP next. is it a lot tougher and any good recommended books that I can refer to?
your advices are highly appreciated.

Good luck on the CISSP. You're correct that it is a lot tougher than the Security+. Many people choose to do the SSCP as a stepping stone but there's nothing wrong with tackling the CISSP without the SSCP. This forum is active on both the SSCP and CISSP certs: (ISC)² SSCP and CISSP Forums.
Good luck. -

Regarding the CISSP - if you are an experienced person in the field already, the jump between the Sec+ and the CISSP might be manageable, but for a newcomer, it might be a huge leap. Darril's advice above to go for the SSCP first is sound. Concerning the books, the most popular ones seem to be:
(1) CISSP All-in-One Exam Guide, 6th Edition
(2) CISSP: Certified Information Systems Security Professional Study Guide
(3) CISSP Study Guide, Second Edition
(4) Official (ISC)2 Guide to the CISSP CBK, Second Edition ((ISC)2 Press)Fall 2014: Start MA in Mathematics [X]
Fall 2016: Start PhD in Mathematics [X] -
someslacker Member Posts: 37 ■■□□□□□□□□As Ivanjam and others pointed out, weigh your experience and overall knowledge of the concepts in regards to the CISSP CBK. If you lack a fair amount of experience or are not comfortable with the concepts in many of the official CBK domains it may be best to do the SSCP (Darril's book is an awesome read by the way). Review Ivanjam's list of reading resources, it is a great short-list of good study material. Congrats on the pass!

Darril Member Posts: 1,588Great list by Ivanjam. Another option is a new CISSP book being released this month that is much thinner/shorter and designed to be a supplement to the thicker books. It's along the lines of "just the facts" and doesn't delve into the details but it's enough to remind you of what's important and check your readiness. If a topic isn't clear from the review, it's an indication you need to go back to one of the thicker books or do some other research. The book is called CISSP Rapid Review (ISBN-10: 0735666784).
