Pay slips are available online and money is direct deposited. It's been that way at every place I have worked besides the grocery store as a kid.

I had an employer that give out printed pay stubs mailed from ADP, but no more. It's all digital. There's simply no need for the paper.

We're all digital now too. I've always used direct deposit when available and haven't seen a physical pay check on anything other than consultancy gigs for the last 5+ years.

Digital and only the past couple of years have I disciplined myself to save PDF copies of them to a backed up folder on my computer....

I get my check WIRED to my bank (not direct deposit) which is not normal but I don't mind. I usually get an e-mail acknowledgement that it's gone through and the amount/hours but that's it. My previous jobs gave me physical stubs and a place online to view my stub history

Direct deposit. Paystub available on an internal website. Also submit vacation/sick time on the website.

I still get my check/pay stub handed to me. No direct deposit so I have to remember not to lose that baby before I get to the bank.

When I was at the grocery store, it was a physical paycheck. Now it's direct deposit with no physical stub mailed. They are available online to print.

I would say I haven't seen anything but a digital payslip in 6 or 7 years.

What matters is that you get paid, the metho is not significant.

Why does this seem to bother you? Direct deposit or a paycheck or cash it is all the same thing. One method both parites just go about life without issue. One method requires a check be cut and the other party to deposit it into a bank. The last method makes more work for the employer (sort of), but is a sure thing the employee will spend it quickly. K-mart at one time paid their employees in cash, knowing most employess needed to buy things and that the cash in hand. A method that worked well for both parties.

As long as you receive what you agreed to work for...should not be a problem regardless of the method. Good luck.

Wow! That's extremely unusual. I've never heard of that. I'm very curious, is there a reason why your employer chose this method? It's quite an expensive way to move money. And for most employees, I would imagine that unless they have an account with one of the few banks that don't charge an incoming wire fee, it can add up.

In the US, most employers use ACH.

I consult through a middle-man company. I simply bill for the hours and they pay me in full. I was a little shocked by the wiring as well but that's the way they do it. I'm not sure if it's because it's a small company or they just found it easier to do it that way. Since I'm technically a consultant, I have to pay taxes on my own which is why, in part, I spent so much this year on tech and certification things. Write-offs here I come!

I don't think they handed out cash in Europe for ages. Always got my money into my account, already tax-reducted, and paper with all the numbers in post.

Actually, I think it is great. The big advantage is your money is (typically) available first thing on pay-day. No going to the bank, no losing the check, no nothing - just wake up and the money is there. Of course, there should be some sort of paper-trail where you can download or otherwise see an accounting of what you were paid, what was deducted, etc.

I get paid in a suitcase, the driver pulls up, window comes down I get handed a suitcase full of cash. I then disappear into the shadows.
