I am trying to hide the license key in vCenter and today I am working on someone else's and see under license info the key only partially in the format of
12345-#####-#####-#####-54321
This is basically what I'd like to do in our lab (without temporarily reverting to a trial license) whilst contractror working on the environment.
Is this a role permission ?

You can control which users can view and manage license resources.
The following permission types are supported.
1. Global.Licenses If you have global permission at the root folder, you can view and modify all
licenses in the vCenter Server inventory. This permission includes other
vCenter Server systems in a Linked Mode group.
2. Read-only If you have read-only permission on a host, the vCenter Server displays the
first and last five characters of the license key assigned to the host, the features
present in the license, and the expiration date for the license.
If you have neither of these permissions but you have the permission to add a host to vCenter Server, you can
add a license to the inventory and assign a license to the host when you perform the add host operation.[h=1]“An expert is one who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing.” [/h] -
jibbajabba Member Posts: 4,317 ■■■■■■■■□□Thanks. Funny enough though - the reason I am asking is, I am full admin on this environment with full control and yet still not see the license key - hence I was wondering if there is a "trick" I am missing here ...My own knowledge base made public: http://open902.com

pumbaa_g Member Posts: 353Are you sure, if you are seeing only the first and last 5 digits then maybe you don't have the Global.License permissions in this environment. I think we need to wait for someone with more expertise to answer this one then as this is the maximum that I am aware about this
Any vExperts (literally and figuratively) here who can help?[h=1]“An expert is one who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing.” [/h] -
