Whats Best data recovery software!
I am just looking for opinons on which data recovery software is fast and efficient. i run a local tech store and came across this issue sometimes and the few i have don't work to good. thanks

Linux...by far. It has come through even when very expensive software for windows did not. (for me at least.) Live cd + usb driveAlabama or Bust!

PC Inspector is a decent one which I've used to recovery data from an old drive.
FINALLY found this. It's a thread I started a while back when I was having some trouble with a drive. It contains a bit of information and the names of a few tools.

Thanks, what data recovery for linux do u use? and does knoppix have one that comes with it?

I dont use anything at all...linux is very good at reading drives.
If you use a livecd and mount the drive...you can copy anything off of it you need to recover.
If you dont like the livecd approach...get an ide-usb converter and use the same method with your linux desktop and your newly made usb hddAlabama or Bust!
