Passed 70-680

Yay

Score of 920. Second time around taking it so I knew what to expect. Configuring access to resources is the only section I got wrong answer(s) in.

Have to complete this one through WGU by 3/17, but I have a while to prepare for it since I am ahead. Anything you would recommend outside of regular study? Any trick questions?

Next up for wgu is CIW - web design specialist. It's a cake walk apparently compared to this one.

Isud- so true. This exam really challenged me

Msp-it - one thing I highly recommend is alongside the material wgu gives you, I would read another source. Make sure you know the steps of scenarios. If you pm me your email address I can shoot over a book in PDF by poulton. The mentor emailed it to me a month ago and it really helped. Questions were not tricky, you just really have to understand the question as a whole.

I looked at all the answers I could choose from from each question and picked the most likely answers. I then retread the scenario, unless the question was blatant.

The one provided with the school (WGU), it was through wileyplus. I did all the labs as well that were a part of the class setup.

I took the test with those two sources first and got a 500-1000 points on the exam. I emailed the mentor of the class and he gave me a copy of the Don Poulton book in PDF format, flash cards, a book on the syntax.

    All right here:

I actually substituted the commands book with one written by Darryl Gibson. I think Gibson has the best books out there for studying.

Windows 7 Portable Command Guide: MCTS 70-680, 70-685 and 70-686: Darril Gibson: 9780789747358: Amazon.com: Books

    Here are the flashcards:

    http://www.flashcardexchange.com/cards/a04-mcts-70-680-windows-system-image-1407235

So basically all I used was the wileyplus alongside the labs provided in the course, Don Poultons book and the portable command guide by Darril.

I honestly think that the resources that the school provided were very poor in covering the exam objectives. Either that, or I really didn't pay attention.

I've heard its not bad. I think anything should be fairly easy compared to the 70-680 and CCNA exams.

Thanks for the tips. You might want to edit and remove the link for the Poulton pdf since it is a copyrighted document.

Dont know what you are talking about :)

Poulton book is a great resource. I have his latest edition for the exam for sale for 40 dollars shipped to your door if you're interested.

comes with the code for the labs as well as the cd. No marks in the book and looks like it hasn't been read.

Thanks for the info, I'm working on my 70-680 now. Would I be able to get a PDF copy of the Poulton book by chance? I've heard its a good one.
