Finally passed 70-270 with a 1000 score. icon_cool.gif

I hold a degree in Computer Engineering it helps me lot to understand the scenarios. I finished the subject OS and Network Administration (Windows 2000 Server) when I was in school it also helps.

I took the the exam in VUE an hour ago, it took me 100mins to answer all the questions, they are tooooo long. Two (2) months preparation, I studied 15hours a day.

I used:

Sybex 70-270 3rd Edition icon_thumright.gif
MS Press 70-270 2nd Ed sleeping.gif
TechExams technotes and practice tests icon_thumright.gif
CBT Nuggets 70-270 Exam Pack (Two Thumbs Up) icon_thumright.gif
Serebra 70-270 CBT icon_thumright.gif
Boson Practice Tests icon_scratch.gif

What is next? Should I take CCNA first, Network+ or continue with MCSA2003 track?

My purpose of taking cert now is for employment, need a job.

Thanks to your help and advice now I'm an MCP. icon_cool.gif

WOW! That is an excellent score! Congrats on the pass!

I would encourage you to keep on the MCSA2003 track. Since you have yourself in the "Microsoft study mode", your are, no doubt, ready to keep going in that direction.

Congratulation! I'm currently pursuing the XP exam myself beside going to school for Computer Science. I hope to finish this exam in a month soon.
what's your next move? 70-290 perhaps?

Congrats.... Sweet Score.. You are the man.

Wow that's a lot of studying. Keep on the track for the MCSA and maybe Network + later.

Study for the 290 next and 291 after that. Good Luck.

    THANKS.

May be I am going to the CCNA study since I have also a fresh knowledge in CISCO. It's a separate certification which i can put in my resume. Hope I can finish this in a month using the sybex book and some CBT's then after that i will continue MCSA2003.

I finished CCNA 1, 2 & 3 but not 4 under CISCO Networking Academy in school and am thinking if I will complete CCNA 4 first for the voucher.

    Any suggestions icon_confused.gif:

For those who will take the exams you can read the ExamForce cram sheet for 270 to recall some terms and definitions before entering the testing room. And If you really want a high score, quarantine yourself and enjoy the study icon_study.gif .

    Wow...awesome score!

Just a few comments on pursueing your CCNA. I completed the cert in March of this year. And..let me tell you what....its a no joke exam! I also attended the Cisco Network Academy through my local college and I feel it prepared quite well for the exam. I finished all 4 classes with As.

I would say that you should concentrate ALOT of your studying on the items covered in the Cisco 3 course. I was attending the Cisco 4 class when I sat the test and it did help with the WAN protocols that were covered and the few questions I had on NAT and PAT. Of course you need to know your OSI model and PDUs at each layer.

I felt really good having passed that exam. Our network manager had previously held a CCNA and let his expire. He needed to renew his cert so he sat the test a week before I did. (He didnt want to look bad if I had the cert and he didnt seeing as I report to him). Welll...it kicked his butt! He didnt pass and I did!

Bottom line: Review all of your Cisco Curriculum stuff and know your routing protocols and how to configure them (RIP, OSPF, IGRP, EIGRP). Also remember that once you answer a question you cant go back! And for me, time became a real issue. I have always been a quick test taker....but I was racing through the last 30 or so questions because the sims took too much of my time.

Best of luck in your studies!

neek24sb thanks to your advice now i get a better idea how really hard the exam is.

Yes I will review all of my Cisco Curriculum stuff and concentrate on the objectives. I have the INTRO, ICND and Sybex 5th book, do you think these are enough to make me CCNA?

Congratulations and good luck to your MSCE path. icon_thumright.gif

The only thing that I would add to your studies is either a router to practice on or a router sim. You definitely need to know how to configure at the CLI.
