I work with F5 load balancers. Seems the main thing you need is experience. However, if your employer offers to pay for F5 certifications, go for it.

They did in my last role... We moved from Cisco load balancers to F5 LTMs, and we found there was a lot you could do with them in terms of iRules and directing traffic. At one point, F5 was offering free CBTs for the LTM products, which was refreshing, but since then, it looks like they've quit doing that and started charging big bucks.

i only have a list of topics covered on the ADF exam. i joined some F5 forums, but no info there. i think what i'll do is probably research the topics, try my best to study those and then take the exam. it may take a 2nd attempt to pass it... hopefully i can do it on 1st try though.

I would imagine they would provide some value. When I think of load balancing I think of F5 LTM and GTM. I have worked with these and they can do ALOT and seem to leave some other wannabe competitors in the dust. FatPipe WARP and RadWare LinkProof both leave a lot to be desired. There are probably others out there now but F5 will do pretty much anything you need it to do as far as I can tell.

yeah. i did some sales training on the product line and it seems like there's a market for it compared to Cisco WAAS. there's also some Riverbed devices that compete in their space as well. i'm really trying to gain some skill in something other than Cisco at this stage in my career.

anyone certify on this yet? I'm taking the F5 101 exam in a couple of days and pretty nervous about it. nervous because I've only read the blueprint and a few white papers. i've never spent serious time working on the gear.

I've thought about I mainly deal with Link Controller and LTMs. There a few ASM in my environment but I'm not heavily involved with them. I've been to an F5 training course and to be honest it wasn't I didn't already pick from working with them for a few months. I too have been considering taking an F5 certification test. (LTM Side of the house).

Good luck on the exam, remember be confident and calm. Read the question fully and see what happens. Let us know how you do!

Moving from Cisco ACE to F5 6900/11000 for the as a service offerings. The partnership has the F5 LTM essentials training, but other than that your company will have to pay for the advanced classes. I use the classroom books along with the version 11 45 day trail at home to train on.

Could anyone kindly provide some resources for a newbie to learn about the F5?

I recently moved to a new job where we use F5. Unfortunately I will not be managing the F5 for the time being and do not have any access to the appliance. I have some experience with Cisco CSS and ACE in my previous role.

    Thanks a lot!
