Conquered ICND2 Yesterday

DiggsDiggs Member Posts: 97 ■■□□□□□□□□
Took ICND2 at my local testing center yesterday and passed with a 972

Quite happy with my score...I was nervous heading in there having read on this forum how difficult 640-816 is.

About half way through I thought I may run out of time but fortunately my exam was front loaded with simulations - finished with a little under 10 minutes to spare.

Got 83% on implementing ACL's and WAN technologies - 100% on the other three categories.

Materials used to study:

Odom ICND1 / ICND2 (primary)
INE CCNA R/S Videos (free)
Cisco's Website
Home Lab
Pearson Practice Exams (came with Odom's ICND2)
Boson Practice Exams

Would like to thank the TE forum and its members - I've learned an awful lot going through the threads on here.

Not sure exactly yet which direction I want head next - leaning towards CCNA:Voice or CCNA:Security but may look into getting my MCSA in Server 2008 as it's more prevalent in our company's organization.

So much I want to learn...so little time icon_wink.gif

Congrats man, you said you had a home lab, do you think it is essential to pass or is a virtual lab sufficient?

Good job... that is an awesome score. What piece of material made the difference the most of your exams?
(I am reading Odom now after reading a bit of Lammle and it is a full of information but can be a little dry.)

Anywho, the best of luck on future endeavors.

While I don't think a home lab is 100% necessary to get your CCNA I found I learned quite a bit more from having the physical equipment to play with. Making cables, installing modules and installing routers and switches all helped solidify the knowledge. Plus I enjoy having the hands on experience.

I would have to say that I got the most out of the Odom ICND1 / 2 Certification Guides - they helped me pass more than any other source. I did not find them as dry as you (and others) say....I rather enjoyed reading the material.
