Just wondering if this is still worth doing?

I am just wondering if these exams (70-620, 622 & 623) are still worth doing? I want it to beef up my transcript and portfolio/framed certificates round my room. A friend of mine whose been in the industry for about 30 years said that it isnt wise to go for these certificates as it would show up on my transcript as taking a Vista exam in January 2013 which is very old. They also said it wouldn't be much use to me now and that the money (£297 for all three) would be better invested in something else.

What are your thoughts?

He is totally right on this - Why don't you go for the Win 8 Exams which would be more relevant and make you more marketable as well ( given that Windows 8 is and will be pushed aggressively my Microsoft on to the enterprise networks )

The Vista OS and the exams would not be of much help and you can definitively spend the £297 on some other cert .

If you're looking to do tier 1 or 2 computer support then Vista exams might be useful. When I was doing contracting work on the side, 3 out of 4 housecalls were for Vista machines having issues. If you're not interested in that kind of work or if you're looking to get OS exams to get a higher level exam like the MCSE, I'd say grab Windows 7 or 8.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I aim to get the other Windows 7 certs before may and Widnows 8 before July. I just thought that this would be a good opportunity to get two additional MCITP's before July when they expire.

I am a System Administrator for a SME with about 10 or less vista machines, would it be worth it?

As a system administrator with 10 or less machines? Nope. Not at all.

Thread hijack, on Iris's certs I like how her CompTIA starts with A/S/L... Back on track, I am going after the vista MCITP:Vista, simply because I have 10 half price+second shot vouchers and it seems like something I could reasonably obtain before May 31st, with my current skillset. Though if you do not have other more useful certifications, I would recommend 7/8.
