Should i wait or should i move to programming ?

Hello !

I'm looking for a job since November 2012, with my CCNA took in 28 October and i can't find anything. Since 4th January I've started to learn for CCNP. My big question is : Should i keep applying for Help desk, Jr. Network Engineer or should i move to web programming (I've saw a lots of projects, workplaces)? .....keep in mind that I've never being hired, so no chance to talk about experience.

Well, I think the biggest thing holding you back from any job is the lack of experience. That isn't going to change regardless of the field you try to get into.

Have to agree with networker, with no experience you'll still have a rough go of it.

Indeed, but i can build experience on web programming by making home-projects and if will go to an interview i can show them my portfolio.
I don't want to give up on cisco, but i don't know what to do. My life keep passing me by......

I think your best bet is to apply for Level 1 contract positions and/or low paying positions at small companies. If you still cannot get experience, ask your family and friends is they know anyone who owns a small business and could use some IT assistance. Even if the project is just setting up workstations, accept it. You have to start somewhere! Be sure to go to any relevant conferences, seminars, and any low cost events you can. Personal contacts can be very productive. You need to make friends with people, let people know you need help getting started.

If you want to do networking, go do it. Keep learning, apply, apply, apply.

If you want to do programming, go do it. Keep learning, apply, apply, apply.

Unless you are in your 60's, life isn't passing you by because you haven't been able to find a job in 2 months.

Don't get me wrong, but i want to find out from experience people what path should be easy to get for a start. I need money for my cisco books, for cisco class academy, for a cisco lab....nobody will pay for these and life keep passing by no matter you have 20 or 60 years.

What is easy totally depends on the individual.

I might find X extremely difficult and someone else might find X so easy it bores them to tears. Just replace X with anything.

The answer is the same, go do whatever you want to do. It's not complicated. There's an entire industry devoted to questions like this, Self-help books. They all pretty much say the same thing, find something you "want" to do, and go do it.

You want an easy start. Assuming you aren't physically disabled, go be a ditch digger.

THIS!!! especially the bolded...i never got that part either! we all have our biases...and i think most pplz on here are not on the DEV side of IT, if its even considered IT at our respective places of employment.

You have your NA I would keep applying for networking jobs.

It doesn't sound like you have much of any programming skills so that's not even an option.
