Didnt get the job would still like to send a thank u letter. Help please

I interviewed for a position in the tech department of the company I currently work for recently. I did not get the job. I would still like to send a thank you letter that thanks the dept head for interviewing me but that also says Im still very interested in future opportunities should they arise. Can I get a little help guys cause Im drawing a blank on wording.

Optionally, depending on your personality: "If you have any recommendations on the self-development that would help me become a better fit for the company one day, I'll be happy to hear them...."

So my HR rep today asked me to revise my thank you letter. Shes been extremely helpful keeping me on projects and recommending me for last weeks interview. As such any e-mails I send to the other dept go through her first. She advised me the letter comes off as me trying to sell myself and expecting too much. So Id love some feedback on this letter for future reference. Let me know what u guys think. Thanks!

Thank you for the opportunity to interview for the Helpdesk Specialist position last week. I enjoyed meeting you and learning more about the helpdesk position. I am very grateful for the opportunity and am very interested in speaking with you about future employment opportunities.

Even though I did not get the position, I would like to you to continue to consider me for future opportunities within your organization. I am still pursuing my education and seeking to refine my technical skills to address any deficiencies which I may have in certain core competencies. To that end, if you have any recommendations on the self-development that would help me become a better fit for the Helpdesk Specialist position one day, I would be happy to hear them.

Again, I very much appreciate you and your team taking the time to speak with me about the position. Thank you.
