in CCNA & CCENT
Hi Guys,
Finally booked my Intro exam on the 11th of August. Feel fairly confident with it but have read and heard people can fail this one too, so a bit nervous. I have read CCNA INTRO Exam certification Guide by Wendell Odom entirely and did some practice exams from the CD which came with the book.
Was wondering if I should be reading anything else and any last minute tips that might come in handy. Also out of 45 questions how many questions can I afford to miss and still Pass the exam.
For multiple choice questions do we get any marks if say we get 2 out 3 options right..??
Thanks in advance

johnnynodough Member Posts: 634For the intro I just read Wendell Odoms Intro book, used my home to practice (the sim w/ the book along with the virtual router on this site should be sufficient), and this site. Be sure you can subnet like a SOB. Pay close attention to the simulator questions you get, if you bomb one completetely you are toast. You can miss a poingt or 2 in a sim and still pass it, its recomended that you spend no more than 10-15 minutes per sim, cause you can run out of time and bomb out that way.
If you get VLSM down so well that you can either do it in your head or jot it out quickly you should do well.Go Hawks - 7 and 2

If you pass, have a beer, some good beer.
If you fail, have a beer, some cheap beer.

tejamainhoon Member Posts: 7 ■□□□□□□□□□Hey Guys,
Yes, Passed the Intro with 930, first attempt.
Design and Support - 88%
Implementation and Operation - 100%
Technology - 85%
Some questions were really tricky and got 2 simulations one of which was evil, took me almost 20 minutes to get that one working but finished my exam with 15 mins to spare.
Its definately time for some GOOD beer, I hate cheap Ones.
Will think of the ICND later.
Thanks Guys,

QUIX0TIC Member Posts: 277I thought that was a good comment regarding passing = good beer and failing = bad beer. It made me laugh.
Well, dude... it looks like you are on your way to becoming a CCNA certified technician. CONGRATS! What is the planned schedule for the next test?"To realize one's destiny is a person's only obligation." -
tejamainhoon Member Posts: 7 ■□□□□□□□□□It took me 5 weeks for the Intro, I know it sounds bad but living alone and working full-time, its hard to manage everything and study (atleast for me ). I want to say 6 weeks from hereon for ICND but will see how it goes after I jump into the books and knowing this is much tougher than Intro I think I am gonna spend a lot on takeaways this month .

QUIX0TIC Member Posts: 277Well, Ill be right with you. Even though I should be re-certifying my NP right now... Im choosing on taking the 801 test just to see the differences from when I took it a few years ago."To realize one's destiny is a person's only obligation."

Cheers,
Hey, only you can determine how long it will take you to prepare for a test. I spent about 5 weeks myself for the intro, but I already had many of the basics under my belt.
In my studies, I would rather know the material and know it well, then actually have the cert. I have been taking months on my ICND, a month to get remotivated, and I have been doing labs on EVERYTHING, I want to see everything working, my learning methods are much more hands on, I can be told "do this, and then this, and it works, next topic'' I have to see it happen, I have to make it work in my labs.

A is for academics, B is for beer. One of those reasons is why I'm not here. So leave a message -

Oh Yeah, the beer tasted real good.
And Yes I agree with when u say its only me who can determine how long it will take me to prepare myself for the test but it helps me if I have a date in mind, that keeps me motivated, even with Intro I booked my exam first and then opened the book, had it booked on 4th of August first but when I realised I am not ready yet postponed it to the 11th .
I guess one has to know the material and know it well to pass the exam and get the cert especially with ICND.
All the best with ur studies and better put in a special order for a newer bigger, broader belt now .I use to be indecisive before, now I am not so sure.
