Hey all,
Had a crazy crazy last 8 days... 3 interviews, and was offered a position pretty much by the time I made it home to come in as a
wait for it.....
"Network Engineer!"
Now, the job details don't look very much network heavy, but I report directly to the Sr. Network Engineer, and they insist on that naming convention for the job title, so I'll take it, and use it mightily once I get my CCNP level credentials hopefully by mid 2014.
The pay is lower than I necessarily wanted/expected but I've been looking for a couple of weeks and right now the job seems to fit my strengths more than anything else so I thought it was a good fit.
I was offered 2 other positions one contract to hire (which they tried to negotiate straight to full-time because of the job offer) and another full-time position at 65000 and 60000k respectively.
I've went 3 weeks without hearing much of anything, and when I did it was only jobs maxing out at about 20.00 per hour, then last week I got hit with a flurry of inquires. I am going to stay with this Network Engineering job though because the company has been around over 100 years, and they seem pretty darn stable, and I will get to learn a lot, as well as maximize my Windows Server knowledge(and still obtaining knowledge) help them with their Windows 7 migration, and get into SCCM packaging, as well as some basic lan/wan helping. But I felt long term, and after the next 2 years, this position will give me a better launching pad than the others if I relocated or get my ccnp because I would already have the title, and be able to hone some pretty good skills. I wish it had more networking, but who knows they might give me more responsibility once I prove myself. So It took 2 years exactly, but I am finally full-time and have actual benefits...!
