Regis University BS in Comp Science

Anyone here know anything or have attended Regis University's College for Professional Studies? They are regionally and nationally accreditted and offer a BS in Computer Science, Networking, and Computer Information Systems fully online. The price isn't cheap but I have the GI Bill to help out.

I'm mainly interested in the CS program because it is one of only 3 across the country that is fully online and accredited by ABET -.

Seems decent. Only thing its missing from a typical B&M school CS program is Physics. Plenty of higher level maths though!

Just looking for input. I'm reconsidering WGU as CS is really what I'm passionate about. WGU was just a more instant gratification.

Out of curiosity, what were the other 2 ABET accredited CS programs? The only other one I know of offering a BS was FSU.

I wanted a CS degree myself. I looked and couldn't find something 100% online that wasn't expensive and without traditional semesters/class lengths. I choose WGU because I'm a career changer and me taking 4-7yrs part time going to a local university for a CS degree wouldn't help me secure that developer job today or in the near future.

The way I looked at it was I needed a relevant, respected, and affordable 4yr degree that would satisfy the HR checkbox in a timely fashion (under 2.5yrs was my goal and I completed WGU in 7 months). For all the pure CS classes I missed out on I'm actively taking coursera/udacity/edX classes.

If time wasn't an issue, and money wasn't I could see leaning away from WGU. I think it depends on what you want to do as a career as well. If you want to engineer software for the next mission to Mars, then a CS degree is probably needed to get yourself into fields like that.

Regis offers 5 Week and 8 Week courses. Gen-eds are the 5 weekers and all technical & maths are 8 weeks so it is an accelerated degree. Im a big math dork and really want that aspect of CS drilled into me. WGU looks great, but don't think its for me.

I have looked at FSU but I don't meet their requirements (Calc 1&2, Physics 1) just yet to transfer in. At this point in my work and family life I can't attend these courses at my local community college based on the times they are offered not working into my schedule. So with that I need to transfer because the only classes I'd be taking this semester were wasteful electives. I meet all of Regis' transfer requirements so thats why I was looking that way. It's more expensive, yes, but with the GI Bill & Yellow Ribbon program I should be fully covered.

You can take Calc I & II at Ohio U by examination. You get a letter grade that is transferable to other institutions. $111 per credit. If you're mathematically inclined you could knock these out in 2-3 months total. Says they aren't accepting new registrations at this time, but keep an eye on it.

Are those like CLEP exams, just locally created and administered? Good find! I'll keep that bookmarked.

Louisiana State University offers Calculus I & II by "print-based distance education" aka snail mail at slightly less than $150 per credit:

I plan to do Calc I & 2 as well as Linear Algebra with LSU to satisfy prerequisites for an MS in Computer Science after WGU.

Pretty much yes. Just find someone who can proctor you locally and these are the fastest graded credits on the planet.
