...the ITSST City & Guilds course? I took this course about three years ago and I think it was dibanded last year?
WHat ideally I'd like to know is, what course/qualification can I go for now?...

I never heard of that one before, but the first result in google www.dmccormick.org/itsst1.htm leads me to believe that you should be looking at the A+ certification.
