Can anyone suggest a good intro to SAN technologies (particularly Fiber Channel)?
I've spent the last 18 months as Desktop Support/Helpdesk Supervisor for a large hospital and will be making an internal move to Network Administrator. During my time as supervisor, I've become deeply involved in our virtual desktop infrastructure, which will be a large part of my responsibilities in the new position.
In this role, I'll be heading up our first installation of XenServer utilizing IBM Bladecenters and Brocade Fiber Channel. I may get into administration of the Brocade gear later on, but for now I just need to ramp up on the terminology and concepts. I'll be configuring HBAs, requesting LUNs from the SAN guys....things like that. I've been browsing the Brocade content on YouTube, but haven't found anything as high level as I'm looking for. I've wondered if the Storage+ prep material may deliver that.
It's shaping up to be a busy year. Once I'm up to speed, my responsibilities may include: XenServer, XenDesktop, XenApp, VMware, Alcatel switching/wireless, Cisco ASAs, and some varied Microsoft stuff (Group Policy, new rollout of Bitlocker, Office 365). I plan to get my hands on anything/everything they'll let me.
