What is a good high quality home switch?

Like most of you, I probably have a bit overkill in my home network.
Hard wired network
1x W2k8 Server/NAS
1x VMWare host (between 5 to 10 VM’s running at any time)
1x Fedora Desktop (main desktop)
1x Mac Mini
1x Xbox
1x Smart TV (tentative, these seem to work on enet or wifi)
I’m running this as my switch
Newegg.com - LINKSYS EG008W 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Workgroup Switch
Which goes into a Cisco E2000. From there I connect wirelessly, or will be connecting when my GF moves in:
1x Lenovo Laptop
1x HP laptop (girlfirends)
2x smartphones
1x tablet
I’m thinking I need to refresh my network equipment. Most everything that has been set to run on gigabit has been, but every now and again I notice lags, or machines that “can’t” access shares, though they can ping their hosts.
Anywho, any recommendations on a solid Gigabit switch? I need something that is maybe slightly higher than consumer grade, preferably if it has QoS, but I don’t need VLANs. But something that’s not as expensive as a rack mounted cisco switch. Less than say $300, less than $200 would be better.

WafflesAndRootbeer Member Posts: 555You could look at some of the Cisco stuff. They have business-grade gear that's just a little more expensive than the consumer stuff. Newegg has a huge pile of it.

HP ProCurve Switch J9560A 1410-16G Switch - 16x RJ-45 autosensing 10/100/1000 ports, 1U at TigerDirect.com
Or...even better:
HP V1410-8G Switch - J9559A#ABA - Unmanaged Switches & Hubs - CDW.com
You can use the HP switch selector, I found an 8 port managed one for $199 which can do all the QOS and trunking things that the larger Pro Curves can. -
EV42TMAN Member Posts: 256ewww Trendnet, trendnet is not reliable i'll give you cheap but definitely not reliable. Go look at D link 1200 series smart switches I've got one in my home network.Current Certification Exam: ???
Future Certifications: CCNP Route Switch, CCNA Datacenter, random vendor training. -
darkerz Member Posts: 431 ■■■■□□□□□□My TrendNet Green switch 8 port and 24 port have worked for multiple years no issues ever, after multiple moves, power outages, brown outs, electrical building issues, etc.
Remember kids, TrendNet Switches, yoloswagger. -
crrussell3 Member Posts: 561Another vote for Trendnet Greennet. Just got one to upgrade to 10/100/1000 for my HTPC and no issues. It is actually one of the most recommended switches for that purpose.MCTS: Windows Vista, Configuration
MCTS: Windows WS08 Active Directory, Configuration
