Hey guys, I'm just starting down the security path. Would it be beneficial to stop off and get the security+ or just go on to the Ccna security?

The security+ wouldn't hurt. I would say, if you have time, go for the Security+...it lays a nice foundation.

I've taken the Security+ and I'll say that it's a pretty excellent way to start off the hike. Darril does it pretty spot on. Atleast for me, being able to understand the theories and kinda-sortof know what is happening already really makes the difference going through the OCG Book. Granted, the OCG book still had me reading the same 2 sentences more than 30 minutes to try to grasp wtf was trying to be explained... but oh well.

If you don't want to get your Security+ that's fine. Just give it a once over, understand the topics then come over here. It's well worth the time.
