It's better than nothing, but not really in the IT realm. Can help lead to a helpdesk job in the future I suppose.

    Good luck!

Without knowing the title I doubt anyone here can give much insight. They have everything from customer support to system architects as far as I know.

It doesn't matter what company it is at all. It matters what the position is.

If you're doing hardware/software support for customers, that's helpdesk. Maybe not as valuable as a true corporate helpdesk, but definitely a foot in the door.

If it's just a general CSR position, it is at least resume-worthy, but not really a foot in the door.

Based on my own personal experience I would say yes I consider it as getting your foot in the door.

Knock it out of the park swisschris!

I'm assuming the P/T means part time, so hourly wage will probably be $8-11 an hour starting in the Chicago area. Since you have a few certs you'll probably start a little higher, maybe around $10/hr.

Chris it sounds like a solid opportuntity. You have plenty of certification so now it's time to get value from them. Good luck!

Sounds like a foot in the door. Good luck on the interview. Make sure you go over your own resume so you know how best to convey yourself when you get there.

Good deal. Let us know how the interview goes. I may consider this move as well after I take my A+ exam in a few weeks.

Good luck! I would wait at least a week for them to get back to you as some companies move slower than others

Call or email saying that you would like to thank them for the opportunity to interview. They should tell you a status or say they didn't choose you. If they didn't choose you, politely thank them and ask them to keep you in mind for future positions.

Then let it be and go apply for other jobs in the meantime. Don't put all your eggs in one basket

If you have already sent a thank you, i would wait a week and then follow up. but as recommended, keep applying for other jobs. Who knows maybe you will end up in a situation with two offers which puts you in a great negotiating position.
