Hello, I have a fairly straight forward question regarding web design...
I would like to learn web design skills enough to give my company page a revamp. Is there a recommended book that would teach me the fundamentals and essentials to overhaul my website, but also something that is aligned with a web design cert. E.g. CIW?
It appears there is two certs in the CIW professional series. 1. Web design specialist 1D0-520 2. E-commerce specialist 1D0-525. Passing both is rewarded with the Certified Internet Web Professional cert. I know WGU offers this cert. What are people's thoughts on it?
Or maybe I should just pick up something like this that is proven and works... "A Practical Guide to Designing for the Web" by Mark Boulton

For what it's worth, you can try learning some Web Design fundamentals from Code Academy. They have lessons on HTML5/CSS3, Javascript, and the jQuery library with some content on APIs among other programming languages.
