What Happens: pass 70-682 WITHOUT the prerequisite MCDST XP or EDST Vista

What happens if I pass 70-682 without having either MCDST XP or EDST Vista on my transcript?
I couldn't find any explicit terms that say I HAVE to have MCDST XP or EDST Visa on the Microsoft Learning page, so I'm assuming that it will show I passed the exam without the MCITP / MCSA status?
Anyone know what will happen?

Risky, I can see what you are trying to do there, but no. You likely won't get the full certification just the exam pass on your transcript. Email them if you want though, it's only 680 + 685 glued together. This exam is used to upgrade your MCDST XP or EDST Vista certifications to the EDST Windows 7 certification. -

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□Mmm, doesn't sound right. Anytime I've passed an exam it's always listed at the bottom, even if I don't have the full requirements for a certification. See what they say when they email you back.

"Exam 70-682 is the upgrade exam towards the MCITP: Windows 7 EDST certification. You can only take this up if you have the MCSDT certification on XP or the MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician certification on Vista.
If you take this exam without any previous eligible certification – you will only be granted an MCP. You will need to take up the regular exams for Windows 7 to earn a certification instead.
Below I have included a basic overview of the Windows 7 certifications. For more information on each exam, please click on any of the exam numbers below.

j4rt02 Member Posts: 29 ■□□□□□□□□□My followup question to them is what does "just earn MCP" mean? Does this simply mean just getting into the system (as if I had not taken an exam before?), so if someone requests my transcript it will not show the 70-682 at all?

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□Yeah an MCP is just an exam pass, it won't get you the MCSA:Win7 certification though.

j4rt02 Member Posts: 29 ■□□□□□□□□□Alright, I think I am now satisfied. Thanks for the replies. You will receive a transcript for passing exam 70-682.
But you will need get a certification for passing this exam if you do not have the previous eligible certifications (SDT certification on XP or the MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician certification on Vista).
