Did you know about this freelancing website?
I didn't!
Today I found this website by coincedence:
https://www.elance.com
Basically you search for freelance opportunities to work on short projects, and you get paid for it.
I think this is an excellent investment of time, and a great practical way to gain experience!
Search for jobs, for example "python":
https://www.elance.com/sf/search/jobs/q-python
Check it out!

I'm late to the party, but it seems that a lot of people are active on those sites. I noticed some rates are very low, but perhaps it's good if it's something done on the side, experience! I saw nice rates on the websites Lordy posted.
Looks like something I might try in the future -

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□Much of that lower paid work is ripe to be outsourced to India, if you get some well paid local work you could outsource it and make some money on the side. I know someone who is doing that with web design.

Think of the 2:00 a.m. test—if you were awakened in the
middle of the night because of a network problem and had to figure out the
traffic flows in your network while you were half asleep, could you do it? -

What's her feedback? What do you mean by intrusive? -

If you want to make decent money doing this, stick to sites like workmarket, where the focus is more on skilled labor that requires you to be physically onsite with the customer. I get a lot of local work offers from it that would be great for entry/early career level people. -

discount81 Member Posts: 213I hire a lot of people on there for design/programming because I get it literally 1/10th of the cost it would be in the real world.
95% of the candidates are from India/Pakistan, so you are rarely going to win unless you can work for peanuts.
I tried to get some Networking/Server work on the side through there, I gave my rate as $30 an hour which is less than half of what I would normally charge a client and every single job replied saying "too expensive".http://www.darvilleit.com - a blog I write about IT and technology. -

you hire them to do web development for your remotely? how do you guarantee the quality of the work? Do you sign official contracts with them (taxes? )
I was thinking of practicing my programming skills there...for peanuts, I don't mind
