I just ran the copy TFTP flash command and selected the file named
c2500-i-l.121-18.bin it copied the file into flash perfectly. The file in Flash before upgrading was c2500-i-l.120-17a.bin After rebooting the router i ran the Sh flash command here it is;

kaj#sh flash

System flash directory:
File Length Name/status
1 5743000 c2500-i-l.120-17a.bin
2 8023460 /c2500-i-l.121-18.bin
[13766588 bytes used, 3010628 available, 16777216 total]
16384K bytes of processor board System flash (Read ONLY)

Wonderful now when I run the sh ver command here is what I get;

System image file is "flash:c2500-i-l.120-17a.bin"

Don't get it, shouldn't it say /c2500-i-l.121-18.bin the file I just upgraded to using the copy TFTP flash?

Someone plaese help me figure out what I did wrong.

    Looks like you have two images in flash and it is loading the first which happens to be the older version. Use a "boot system flash" command to point at the newer version and reload (providing that is a complete and valid version of the newer ios). You should then be able to get rid of the original version if you desire.

    didn't work i got a flash boot file /c2500-i-l.121-18.bin open failed i guess it's not a valid version now i'm stuck at a router(boot)prompt. I just tried
    reloading the original IOS version but i'm unable to cause i'm still at the boot prompt. icon_cry.gif .
