Old Study Guides

Hi,

I am looking to expand my knowledge on networking. At this point I am not planning on getting certified since my primary job responsibility is in infosec/forensics, not network admin. Therefore I do not want to write the re-certification exam every 3-4 years.

For my purpose, will a old study guide (previous edition) be suffice (trying to save some $$$)? Any significant changes between current and previous edition? The book I am looking at is the Sybex study guide by Todd Lammle.

Nothing at all wrong with older study guides. All the new study guides really do is correct typos (well sometimes), remove out dated material, add newer material. The basics of routing, switching, IP, VLSM, OSI, don't change.
