if you're talking about the A+ exam, most people recommend
CompTIA A+ All-In-One
and
Professor Messer videos
which are free on youtube.

Material I used
1. CompTIA A+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide (Michael Meyers)
2. CompTIA A+ Certification Boxed Set (Michael Pastore)
3. Upgrading and Repairing PCs (Scott Mueller)
4. CompTIA A+ Certification IT Career FastTrack (gtslearning)
5. CompTIA A+ Exam Cram (David Prowse)
Out of the 5, the only 1 I do
not
recommend is Pastore's. While the practice exams are great, the material lacks. Also, most will likely state that my read of Mueller's material was "overkill" , but I enjoyed it the most out of all items.
I believe that most use Meyer's book to prepare.

I used the previous version of this book, when I took the 700 version of the A+.
CompTIA A+ 220-801 and 220-802 Authorized Cert Guide, Deluxe Edition (3rd Edition): Mark Edward Soper, David L. Prowse, Scott Mueller: 9780789749802: Amazon.com: Books
Passed both tests easily on the first shot, so I guess it was a good enough book!

The A+ Exam Cram book definitely did it for me.
